Welcome to the website of The Commercial Club of Chicago. We hope that you find our site useful and informative. The Commercial Club of Chicago is a membership organization comprised of senior business, professional, educational and cultural leaders who seek to address social and economic issues of importance to the Chicago region. The Commercial Club was founded in 1877 by a group of 17 businessmen who believed Chicago needed a strong and cohesive civic force to help shape the course of the city's development.

During its lifetime, The Commercial Club of Chicago has worked diligently on a variety of initiatives to improve Chicago and the surrounding region, such as Daniel Burnham's Plan of Chicago in 1909, various education reform efforts, and the Metropolis Project.

The Commercial Club of Chicago formed its Civic Committee in 1983 to undertake projects to bolster core industries and pursue new economic opportunities for the region. As an extension of that effort, The Commercial Club and its Civic Committee have created and supported the following affiliated organizations to develop and conduct specific initiatives to improve the City of Chicago and surrounding region:

Civic Consulting Alliance (CCA)
The Renaissance Schools Fund (RSF)
Chicago Metropolis 2020
We invite you to explore this site to learn more about the work of these groups. Also, click here for our upcoming events in 2008 - 2009.
